About Me

Hi, my name is Michaiah. I look forward to meeting you and working with you!

A little about me....I am the oldest of 7! Yeh my parents didn't have a TV. I was homeschooled and only went to school for 5th form (Year 11) to complete School Cert. I did reasonably well at school although I found it initially hard to fit in as I had never spent much time with people my own age.

At the age of 15 I left home. I was dealing with a lot internally and not getting the support I needed from anyone. I got diagnosed with depression at this time.

After school I went straight into full time work in the fashion industry at 16 years of age as I wanted to be a designer. I worked and saved for a few years then went to the NZ School of Fashion Design. I have done custom clothing over the years including wedding and ball dresses.

I started modelling as a scout suggested I give it a go. I was extremely shy and body conscious but I managed to put on a brave face, push through the fear and build a good career. I worked hard and saved up to buy a house as this was a goal of mine. I am grateful for the confidence this built in me and the experience in dealing with all types of people. I started my first business which was a modelling agency.

I then lost my partner to suicide. This was absolutely devastating. It left me extremely lost, questioning everything I thought I knew about life and struggling to see a way forward.

I really didn't want to let this situation beat me so I started a new business, this time an events business and focused on working hard and growing that business. I threw myself into work. Whilst I am grateful I managed to build a successful events company, it was my way out of dealing with my grief. That came up later on as it inevitably will and I was forced to deal with it later in life. I continued to build my events business and have worked with a long list of pretty cool brands over the years.

I found myself wanting to give back and wanting to help people especially women - so it was almost no surprise when I ended up managing a women's refuge when Covid hit NZ. I spent 1.5 years helping over 400 women survive through some traumatic experiences and I am beyond grateful for the experience.

So here we are. I still have the desire to help people become the most amazing versions of themselves. We get dealt a shit hand at times and that is just unavoidable but how we deal with it is what counts. How we pick ourselves up and move forward. Learning how to stand up after every fall. Building the strength to take hold of life and create something amazing.

I am now married and have 2 fur babies - Romeo and Julius (Italian Greyhounds). We have a lovely home and I also paint as it is a great creative outlet for me.
